Children and Youth Programs

Children's Program - Age 4-13

Fall 2016 - Fall 2017 Children's UU gathering activity: from 5:30pm for ages 4-13 years old.

Our dear friend of UUG, Nancy, has led the Youth Program.  A mother of two grown daughters, ex-Girl Scouts troup leader, and a successful leader in her professional life, Nancy has been kindly helping us out by teaching around the UU Seven Principles  with fun activities and stories.

Hi Kids, This is a photo of Kate Lanxner who was the Children's Program Director at the UUG through May 2016.  We had to say good-bye to her when she moved back to the U.S. We are currently seeking a new Youth Director at UUG.

At UUG, you play an integral role in our gatherings and community life.
During Monthly Gatherings:   Kids take part in UUG community rituals of lighting and extinguish the chalice, and lighting candles of joys and concerns.  In addition, I prepare a separate activity for you during the gathering, so you can explore morality and spiritual concepts.  These activities usually address the same topics the adults are learning about, or they are pulled from the classes prepared by the UUA in America.

After the activity, you get to share the results of your activities with the adults when you rejoin them near the end of the service.

Building Friendships with Kids in India:  You may be interested to know that UUGs have partnered with a school in India with kids exactly your age!  We can work together to write them letters, send them gifts, and build friendships with them.

Family Events:  UUs often get together outside of Monthly Gatherings, either to serve others like homeless people or to clean our environment, or to just hike and enjoy nature.  Your are invited to all these events.

Children's Version of the Seven Principles & Purposes
  1. Each person is important.
  2. Be kind in all you do.
  3. We're free to learn together.
  4. We search for what is true.
  5. All people need a voice.
  6. Build a fair and peaceful world.
  7. We care for Earth's lifeboat.
